Don't you believe that the Maven 1 conventions were changed with a
good reason? It's absolutely plausible that the system of a root
directory with hundreds or thousands of groupId's doesn't scale well.

Apart from that, you are using a tool that draws its power from the
conventions to which you adhere. So, why not adhere to it?

Emacs 22 will support MacOS and CygWin. It is not yet decided, whether
these will be used to run Emacs or the other way round.
