Odi's suggestion of starting a 2.1 branch now is a reasonable one.
Just to make one thing clear. It is a 2.0 branch and not a 2.1 branch I am talking about:
+----------> 2.0 Final | ¦ CVS | ¦ merge bug fixes back | V -----------X-----------X---------X----------> 2.1 (HEAD) 2.0 alpha 2 2.0 alpha 3 2.0 branch
-X- designates a CVS tag
It's a bad idea to start new features and new architecture on a branch. Always do this on the trunk. Why? Because there will be fewer and smaller back merges.
