Oleg, I do agree that the bug as described in bugzilla is not serious for
the reasons you mention below. However, if you recall our discussion
(http://nagoya.apache.org/eyebrowse/ReadMsg?listName=commons-httpclient-dev@
jakarta.apache.org&msgNo=5279 ) the serious issue is caused by the
underlying socket remaining open. Since there is already a bit of confusion,
I think I'll go ahead and open a new bug with the correct description of the
serious issue:

http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25592

The funny thing is, fixing the serious bug will automatically fix the
non-serious one.

Thanks
Moh

Mohammad,
I guess I have at least half a dozen of outstanding patches at the moment
;-) so it is about a matter of priority. I do not mind committing the patch,
however, I would like to have this one committed first:

http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25529

And I would still like to go through the regular review process for the 2.1
branch and to secure an OK from at least another committer. In my opinion
the bug is not significant enough to be rushed. As to patching 2.0, I am not
sure it is warranted. After all one MUST call HttpMethod#releaseConnection
in order to ensure the connection release even if an exception is thrown
during the method execution.

Any strong option on this?

Oleg
