Hi Oleg,

I agree that calling get getResponseContentLength() is not free, but I would imagine 
that it's faster than 
repeatedly allocating memory inside of of the ByteArrayOutputStream.  I guess the only 
way to resolve 
this one is with some performance benchmarks.  This is something that we need to do 
anyway, in my 
opinion.  The question is, what makes for a good benchmark?  My feeling is that we 
should stick to the 
macro level with something like requests/second.
