Google Maps is not a collection of mapping data, it licenses and pays
for from TeleAtlas and Navteq.
TomTom gets their data from TeleAtlas.

Gmaps is a web interface, whereas TomTom is a device interface.  Same
backend data.

Just to clarify things.
