So we can replace it by a Si4705 (pin compatible receiver only). http://www.silabs.com/products/audiovideo/fmreceivers/Pages/Si470405.aspx The idea behind such chips is to send sound and RDS messages to your FM car radio. I.e. have your radio display a caller ID or navigation hints. I think there are already some driver fragments in Linux/Staging.
