outdoor bonsai can be a real female dog in cool climes; they really need to
be planted in the ground early in the season to do well.
But there are other strategies, which vary depending on your
clime...which you don't reveal!
    Where the heck are you?

Subject: [Community_garden] caring for a juniper bonsai

HELP! I just got a sweet little juniper bonsai and it says to put it
outside (surrounded with mulch), but it's freezing and it's so wee.
Since I can't seem to find mulch anywhere, I have placed the pot in a
much bigger pot insulated with styrofoam peanuts & soil. Am I
kidding myself? Oh, and I put a scarf around it too for good
measure. Ha!!

I don't want to kill it. Any tips would be extremely appreciated...
