Project Orange Thumb(SM) grant program to provide up to $1,000 worth of Fiskars(R) garden tools to community garden groups SAUK CITY, Wis., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Community gardens around the country will have a chance to look even more vibrant this season thanks to Project Orange Thumb(SM) -- a grant program sponsored by Fiskars Garden & Outdoor Living. Now in its third year, Project Orange Thumb(SM) provides community garden groups with the tools, plants and materials they need to reach their goals for neighborhood beautification and horticultural education. Members of community garden groups can apply for 2005 Project Orange Thumb(SM) grants at http://www.orangethumb.fiskars.com . "Fiskars is an innovator in the lawn and garden market and we see community garden groups as innovators in their communities," said Jeff Powell, president of Fiskars Garden & Outdoor Living. "We believe it's important to support the people who make communities better places to live. In its initial year, more than 100 Chicago-area community gardeners, ranging from children to seniors, participated in the garden projects sponsored by Project Orange Thumb(SM). Last year, Fiskars expanded Project Orange Thumb(SM) into a national program, offering grants to 25 community garden groups selected from more than 500 entries.
