Hello,
I am a graduate student in the architecture/urban planning joint degree program at the University of IL at Urbana-Champaign. In August, I will begin the thesis project. Ideally, for the thesis, I would like to match my desire to create an outlet for nutritious food (maybe a farmers’ market with community garden space), entrepreneurship, economic and community revitalization, a housing component, participation of the community in the design process, and adaptive reuse with the needs of a community. This summer, I am researching adaptive reuse projects and how to acquire funding for such projects. So far, I am aware of a potential project that will adaptively reuse a large office building into a farmers' market and low-income housing. By May 2010, the community, an organization within the community, or a developer of the site will have preliminary drawings they could use to acquire funding. If you know of any organization that might be a good fit or an architecture firm who would like to partner with me in this process, I would like to connect with them over the summer. Please send me an email ( [email protected]) - any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks so much! Crystal Whiters -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
