Since I'm on a roll I thought I'd share a story. There is this CG up
the street from my house, not in my neighborhood, just one over. And
I've been watching it develop over the past couple years from what I
wasn't quite sure was a community garden into one really seriously
awesome community garden.

A coupe weeks ago I stop by and introduce myself one day when there were
three gardeners there. And I'm met with a great deal of suspicion. I
give them my card, they squint at me. When community gardeners squint
at you it's nerve-racking, so I start talking faster, I start telling
them how nifty their garden is and mention that if they need any
volunteers or plowing, give me a ring. Then they cross their arms and
move one step backward. "no, seriously, I'd like to, no fees, I work
for the food bank, it's all good!" "oh, I see, so then we have to give
you half our food."

So I guess I blew it, they never called or emailed me. I'd like to get
them in my data base, but now I can't go back. and if I send a spy it
will just make things worse. Oh well, I guess it takes all kinds.
