Hello Community Garden Leaders and Friends, Have you heard of AmpleHarvest.org? This is a free online resource for helping community gardeners identify food pantries in their area that are ready and able to accept donations of your excess garden bounty. 1 in 6 Americans is food insecure and community gardeners are in a unique position to change this.
What do you do with those extra veggies that you harvest at the garden? Many are distributed to neighbors and friends, but what do you do when you have more than you can possibly use? Fresh fruits and vegetables are really hard to find at food pantries but they are in high demand. Next time you have more vegetables than you can handle, visit AmpleHarvest.org to find a food pantry near you and donate! We also have a flier that you can post or distribute at your garden which is available for download at www.AmpleHarvest.org/communitygarden Come harvest time, if you donate to a food pantry, PLEASE take a photo and send it to me directly.
