Greetings All, We have been having issues with Artemesia (mugwort) spreading throughout the rental plots. If the gardener is not vigilant, it can rapidly achieve a very thick and tenacious hold on the plot. Weeding it out is often ineffective as it spreads through adventitious root sprouts - the more pulling, the more sprouts. I will try sowing a thick crop of annual rye grass as an attempt to crowd out the invasive. Has anyone else faced this or a similar issue and remediated with cover cropping or any other methods that met with success? Smothering with cardboard has not yielded effective results. As it is, I believe we will have to take the plot out of rotation next season in order to keep this plant from overtaking entire blocks of 10" x 20" plots. Thanks for weighing in!
