Hi, my name is Cathy Vrentas and I'd like to share a request with the listserv. I am an avid community gardener from PA, IA and MD, and I am currently a graduate student in a program through Oregon State University. I'm looking at community garden communications for my term project, and am hoping to collect some preliminary information from community gardeners from a broader geographical area. I am eventually planning on turning this project into a larger endeavor and completing some surveys for publication; however, all answers submitted here are preliminary, for use in the term project only and can be submitted as anonymous if you prefer.
I am looking for brief email answers to the following questions to [email protected]: (1). Describe your role in the community garden(s) you work with (paid staff, volunteer with coordinating role, gardener for produce donations, gardener for personal produce, school garden volunteer, etc.) (2). Does your community garden have official policies for cultivation, fertilization, harvest, etc.? If so, how did your garden decide on those policies? (3). How are these policies communicated to others in the garden? (4). What types of external sources do you utilize as references for deciding on new policies or garden recommendations?
