She currently staffs the Assemblymember on issues of environmental safety, toxic materials, water, natural resources, and agriculture. Karen was previously a legislative assistant to Assemblymember Mike Feuer of Los Angeles. The call takes place today, Thursday, September 25 at 1 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Central, 11am Mountain and 10 a.m. Pacific. The call-in number is 712-775-7000; access code is 437563#. We apologize to those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah and hope you can either join us, even if late, or listen to the call later on INUAg.org. Cynthia Price and Betsy Johnson, co-chairs Rodger Cooley, Director, International Network for Urban Agriculture www.inuag.org Description: In August, San Francisco became the first city in California to create an urban agriculture incentive zone where landowners can receive a property tax reduction in exchange for committing their land to urban agricultural use for at least five years. The local legislation comes on the heels of earlier state legislation (AB 551 - the Urban Agriculture Incentive Zones Act of 2013) that allows many cities and counties in California to create similar programs. Join us for a discussion of what led to the creation of these two bills and the details of how the program will be implemented in San Francisco.
