Either way would work and would cost you little.
SE ethernet cards go for about $10-$20 on Ebay. Localtalk/ethernet bridges
can be had for slightly higher, around $25-$30.
Doing things the network way is a lot cheaper than messing with CD-RW
drives, and conceivably it should be more reliable, too.
