Greetings, all.

Today I performed a fresh install of System 7.0.1, then I installed the
Asante Ethernet driver (over LocalTalk), then I attempted to change the
AppleTalk connection to EtherTalk. Again, it locked up halfway through
changing from LocalTalk to EtherTalk. Again, I'm still using the Plus
that kept its date & time between power cycles (but not overnight??).

By "fresh install," I mean that I created a "Finder folder" for the
installed System's Finder file, and renamed its System Folder to
something else. Then I installed from disk images.

As this used to work, clearly I'm doing something in the wrong order.
Asante's installer gives me AppleTalk 58.0.2; is that older than System
7's? I checked "Get Info" but all it said was "System Software 7.0.1"
for the version. Should I _only_ install the Ethernet driver with
Asante's installer? Should I install NSI 1.4.5 before (or after?)
installing the Asante driver? (And at that, probably only the Ethernet
driver, right?

Now, as for zapping the PRAM, I have a question: how are you supposed to
do it? I've found that any time I reboot or cold boot, I (can, and)
have to hold cmd-opt-P-R until the OS starts to boot; it seems to hit
the HD hard a few times, then reboots itself. Is that correct?

Thanks for all the help, guys.

Eagle
