I get the idea. I advocate the best of both worlds: dual boot 6.0.8 and 7.1. 7.1 is not all that slow, really, but I have a pretty good disk in there. My Classic Mycroft boots into the system that suits my mood at the moment. He is very intuitive partner in that way. For the Classic II, I'm moving in the direction of dual booting 6.0.8L and a gamba-stripped 7.5. That seems to be working well for me. Of course, next I need to back down to 7.0.1 to use my experimental Transwarp card. (Thanks, Bryan, for the tip.)
