Modifying CCs is a bit like collecting fossils and minerals (something I
do as a Geologist). You can go into a shop and buy a perfect specimen
for 200 or you can go find it yourself. The one you find yourself will
ALWAYS mean som uch more to you becasue of the work you poured into it.
As another example I had 2 copies of my map for my dissertation printed
so I could keep one copy as I spent an inumerate number of hours on it.
If I bought a Power CC for $799 I would not feel any attachemtn to it.
If I build my own I would feel like part of me was in the machine and
treasure it for all time, like my SE/30 I built from about 3 different
machines but ended up with a 50MHz 030 and 20MB of RAM and a 1.4MB
external floppy :).
It's all relative, as Albert Einstein might have said :).
