The point the other listers are making is that most "Personal 
Firewalls" for the MacOS are more than just access loggers, 
apparently unlike on That Other Platform.

 I know myself that DoorStop Personal is an acutal port-closing or 
port-filtering (depending upon how you configure it) firewall, not 
just a log-generator.

Pickle's point (I think) is that such "personal firewalls" either 
protect just the machine they're on (like DoorStop), just the network 
they're routing to (like IPTables and the like), or nothing at all 
(like BlackIce Defender). He's saying they're no good unless they 
protect both the network and the machine running the firewall.
