I have been using floppies and zips to transfer things. I really should have called this thread "Putting an SE on the internet" because that's what I'm really looking to do. But since our ethernet carries our internet connection (it's DSL), networking them and putting them on the internet are closely linked.
Looks like I'll be buying a SCSI to ethernet adapter. And by the way, floppies are terrible. The failure rate is about 75%. Sometimes I can get the data off just before a disk error occurs, sometimes there's a disk error before I can transfer the stuff, but it's rare to get a problem-free disk. Of course, these floppies are all like 6-7 years old.
