My family's network consists of three computers running OS X, one running OS 9, and two running system 7.6.1. There are actually two SEs: one is mine and it's the one I wanted to network, and the other is my brother's and it always boots from a zip. Both SEs are running 7.1.
Our network setup is kind of strange. We have an ethernet hub, with five computers connected to it. My brother's SE and his Performa 630 are both connected to his Quadra 950, which is directly on the ethernet network. So the SE and the Performa can't connect to the internet, but they do get super-slow LocalTalk networking through the Quadra. I am planning on networking and connecting my SE directly to the ethernet hub, therefore giving it full high-speed network and internet access. All I need is the correct hardware and software. Hardware is easy; I just found someone to sell me a SCSI to ethernet adapter for the SE. Software is a different matter; I need the drivers for the adapter, a TCP/IP control panel, a browser, and an email client. None of the computers have trouble seeing others as long as they're on the network. The only problem between OS X and OS 9 I've encountered is that OS X can't push MP3 files to OS 9. OS 9 can pull them, however. Strange.
