I have connected several Macs to one DeskWriter with localtalk cabling. I have also used the LocalTalk Bridge software to share another localtalk printer onto an ethernet network. So I believe it would work, as long as 1) the bridge computer is turned on, 2) you use localtalk cabling to the DeskWriter, and 3) you select the AppleTalk version of the DeskWriter driver in the Chooser of each Mac. Hide the non-appletalk DeskWriter driver so nobody selects it by accident. You probably will not be able to get any DeskWriter driver to work in OS X.
