The first partition must have a bootable sector with a good system
folder. If it doesn't boot, it may not have always been in the IIx and
is looking for a driver not compatible with your IIx.

You may be able to replace the hard disk driver with a Lido 7.56 formatter
or other formatter and make it "mount" to the desktop without needing to erase
the disk.

If you have another drive and a split drive cable and power cable from a
Quadra 950 or a Centris 610 or PowerMac 6100, and you set the jumpers so
that the Rodime is, say SCSI I.D. 2,3,4,5,6 and set the second drive at
SCSI I.D. zero,
you will be able to copy the Rodime onto the other drive, using the other drive
to boot with.
