I have had similar problems when I started and I use Stuffit 6 on Win98 and Stuffit4.0.1 (I think) on my classic but the trick that helped me when transferring from a Windows box to a Mac is to use a program called TransMac which allows you to copy a Mac file onto a Mac formatted floppy without corrupting the file structure. Transmac also allows you to format a 1.4 meg Mac floppy on the windows box.
