LaserWriter II (IINT, IINTX, IIf, IIg). Large and heavy, but tend to run forever. Memory expands with 30-pin SIMMs. IIf and IIg are Postscript Level 2. IIg has ethernet port. Toner is incredibly cheap (eBay).
Thanks, Bryan - this was another one of these informative, concise posts of yours that I appreciate very much. I learned a lot. But I beg to differ in one point: The LaserWriter II NTX is a rare bird in that it uses 64-pin SIMMs, the same as the IIfx. (I am still trying to resuscitate a LW II NTX with 12 MB of these rarely-used SIMMs on its MB; if I have no luck I'll be stuck with them as my IIfx's slots are all filled.) But in general the reliability of these machines is proverbial ("built like a tank"): the LaserWriter II NT I bought in 1988 had one small repair in its life and is still working.
