Young whippersnapper! What about three-color CGA? Or monochrome Hercules for that matter? My first system was green-on-black text-only.
Or the Apple II series with black, green, purple and white pixels
And then there were the lovely black-on-yellow KSR-35s! :)
Or if you got real creative you printed paper tape that had 8x5 dot matrix characters punched in it.
