I had an LC that had the same odd-noise problem, that also came from
an educational environment. Still don't know what its problem is,
although I bet it's a similar problem. Only trouble is the speaker/fan
assembly on it is trashed, so the only way I hear it is if I connect
headphones or external speakers. Maybe that part's not such a bad
thing.
