HyperCard, even the early 1.x versions, makes very impressive black & white full screen slide shows on the compact Macs. There are several built-in transition effects to choose from. One of the 1.x sample stacks is a slide show with about 5 pictures; just start with that and replace the pictures with your own (paste them in).
