That's the direction to go, no doubt. Auto-sensing 10/100 hubs are the
most likely culprits, system software the next best one (especially
since support for AppleTalk has been dropped with the newest OS X
versions, and AppleTalk had to be enabled manually on the earlier
ones), and I'm writing this to say there's another catch: Although your
SE/30 came with this card, the right software for it may not be
installed or enabled on the hard drive. So, if putting a plain 10 BaseT
Hub between your machines or tweaking the software don't help, you'll
have to look for what you have hardware-wise and then go and search for
the latest drivers on the 'net. In case you have an Asanté card, maybe
the most common one for the SE/30, you're lucky because the latest
drivers (v5.6.1) are readily available for download at Asanté's
website.
