Following the procedure to build the Companion CD, I've noticed that the build
has been hanging about halfway through, filling up /tmp (and thus swap), and
generally putting the system in an unusable state.

Looking at the build logs, I noted that the log for SFWtop is a couple of GB -
looking further, it appears that if the system you're building the Companion CD
on doesn't have a /usr/local directory, then the build of SFWtop goes into an
infinite loop running "getans", looking for /usr/local/bin,
/usr/local/man/man1, etc - seems like this should get fixed, as not all systems
will (or should) have /usr/local. The build certainly shouldn't die over this.
