I was mainly thinking in the context of Nevada and shipping Solaris. To illustrate, suppose we had implemented this project a while back. The users about to receive our shiny new (from their perspective) Solaris 10 U2 would likely be getting some old versions of the GNU tools relative to the versions OpenSolaris developers would be keeping up-to-date in Nevada.
