Don't hesitate to use metacity (instead of Compiz) in order to check if there is something wrong in Cairo-Dock. But if you switched from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04, you switched from Compiz 0.8 to 0.9 too (Compiz has been completely rewrited in C++...)
