Windows did this first, but that's ancient history.
AmigaDOS did it before either, and OS-9 I think did it before AmigaDOS. But that's ancient history :-) As far as the daughter's computer, the Mac looks like the way to go. If she were a gamer I wouldn't even bother thinking about a laptop, but that's probably not helpful.. But if she were a gamer she wouldn't need to ask. :-) Nice post Jeff, BTW.
