Presumably this is because you're running at a different screen
resolution. No biggie, just use the controls on the monitor to adjust
the vertical size and centering.

I dunno about clearer. Maybe you have Cleartype
(http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/Step1.aspx)
enabled on the laptop?
