OK I get it you need the CDROM to be recognized.

Check the cable connection it may look connected but it may not be properly. Also check the power connections.

Swap out power connections if possible. Also if after you check the cables and verify they are all properly seated and connected. Swap out with a new one.

I know sounds too simple to be true but I have had cables that looked good but just failed. Also the cable may not be on all the way but look attached.

Also make sure the BIOS sees it and registers it as a device. It should be the first master device.

If all that fails it may have gone bad.  (I know last resort)
