I don't know the answer, but most streaming servers will continue to stream while paused, so you can just pause it and come back later. But you didn't give a link so who knows if that will work here.
Your DSL should be fast enough; this is likely a server problem. But again, you didn't give any links that would allow us to test it ourselves.
