And to that point, perhaps the only substantive part of the article was the bit about the customer who bought a computer and suffered through a couple of hours of service that should have taken 15 minutes (according to the employee). The MS Stores will constantly be compared to Apple Stores and they will not withstand the weight of that comparison with that kind of service, which IMO is the key to the success of the Apple Store.

Why was the first MS Store in Scottsdale any way? I think the first Apple Store was in Tysons, which makes much more sense to me. If I were in MS marketing, I would have put my first store right where the first Apple Store started (Isn't that how they reported they would model their store placement?). I would at least have put it in a more tech. savvy location. Or is there something about Scottsdale I don't know about?

I would like to have known how many of the "hundreds" of people who came to the opening were locals. How far did people travel, if at all, to come to this opening? How did they find out about the store opening? Why did they come (besides tickets to a mall concert)? How many customers came in the store that day (compare it to how many came to the opening of the first Apple Store?)? What's in the store besides product? How about a description? Did they follow through on the Guru Bar concept?

So, for me, it's not about 'hate' it's about lack of substance. I haven't bothered to try and find other reports on the opening, which says something about my level of curiosity.

Microsoft, and attendant Windows computers are so ubiquitous that it

Preparing the world for another expensive M$ failure right from day 1.

No, I think the reason for failure will be bad management and the fact that almost nobody uses Windows of their own free will. A store that celebrates Windows is like a travel agent who specializes in trips to the Soviet gulag.
