Perhaps a preference could be created so both behaviors are supported?
(As well as the current, mixed one - presumably there are people who
like it the way it is.)  Sorry to ask for the moon, but following
links by typing numbers is conkeror's bread and butter - it would be
nice if it worked without the slightest hiccup, in the most intuitive
way according to each user.
