That's very likely the issue I reported on IRC one or two months ago: XULRunner 14 is known to not work with JS-only applications on Linux (and likely other Unices) and fails non-silently: http://conkeror.org/UpstreamBugs#ConkerordoesneitherworkwithXULRunner14norwithearly.28alpha.2BAC8-beta.29versionsof15and16 It's an upstream bug which has been fixed in 15 and 16, but 14 was already released broken. (There are other issues present in xulrunner 14 which officially won't be fixed in 14 as it's already released, e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/684333 which also affects Firefox.)
