The National Gallery is seeking a Framing and Conservation Technician to 
support the Framing and Conservation departments following the expansion of the 
Gallery`s loans and exhibition programme.

The Framing and Conservation Technician will be based in the Framing Department 
and will be responsible for the preparation of frames and paintings ready for 
National Gallery loans, including glazing and deglazing, basic joinery work to 
enforce the structure of the frames and minor repair work, and the fitting of 
paintings into frames. The job holder will also share responsibility for 
overseeing the storage of glass and frames and the provisioning of the framing 
workshop.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of basic woodwork and 
working with tools and machinery, and will be able to demonstrate sound 
knowledge of woodwork and joinery. They will be able to manage and prioritise 
their own workload to meet stringent deadlines and will be able to find 
practical, appropriate solutions to problems. They will be able to build 
positive working relationships with colleagues, and use influencing skills and 
professional credibility to gain support from internal stakeholders in order to 
meet deadlines for loans.

This is a full time, fixed-term post for 22 months.  The closing date is 7 
March 2019.
