Hard drive space is not the major problem.... I have a local mirror of cooker that is updated constantly.

I'll tell you what the problem that I am running into is... Your install ISO is great, however it seems there is a mismatch between the modules that are in cooker mdkinst/lib. Here is a directory from a mirror that was updated within the last 10 minutes:

and the ones on that the installer CD needs. I know that these files should have been updated since last year. I think it was looking for version 2.4.18-xx.

Here is my mirror script:

========================
rsync -azv --progress --delete --delete-excluded sunsite.uio.no::Mandrake-devel /lapback/Mandrake-devel2 --exclude "alpha/" --exclude "sparc/" --exclude "cookfire/" --exclude "i586" --exclude "ia64/" --exclude "projects/" --exclude "7.2/" --exclude "8.0/" --exclude "8.1/"
========================

I am also always getting a message about a mismatched depslist to hdlist. I am not sure if the mirror's are getting updated properly.

I know Mandrake and I would really like to be using it on by iBook - but 8.2 is way to old for me, I need some features in the new KDE, but I do not have time to get halfway through another install and find that I need to re-cover a prior installation - after formatting hard drives (yes I do use backups - but that isn't the point). I am pretty much stuck with OS/X until I can get a good cooker install :-(

Would you be willing to entertain a suggestion? Is there anyway that we could get a period of a few days where cooker is not changing and then someone rebuild all files in the base directory so that those of us who would really like to try to install it has somewhat of a chance?

Hmmm....

I wonder what it would take in $$$'s contribution to MandrakeSoft for
someone to build a set of install ISO's (that work) from Cooker-PPC? I
am sure there are several users like me who would like to go to cooker,
but have been having serious problems installing from cooker over a
network.

You could also do an HD install. If you have space for ISO's surely you
must have harddrive space? As to your question, that's a bit out of my
area. We do generally do beta and release candidate ISO's, but I'm trying
to get feedback before that process starts. Right now cooker is changing
pretty quickly. Full ISO's would be dated before you could download them.
