This means modules without bigmem support may not work on bigmem kernels. Also, for machines without lots of memory, this is totally unnecessary. This was part of a discussion on l-k recently. In order for modules to be binary compatible with a kernel, you must have module version for 2G 2G-SMP 4G 4G-SMP etc.
