Just did a fresh install of oxygen on a 2GB disk here. Did a network
install, using rpmfind.net's mirror. Here are some data points:
- For god's sake include sawmill for those of us that do not think
Enlightenment is worth anywhere near it's bloat factor.
Probably too late for this, as we are in a feature freeze, I understand.
- When net installing it should ask which ethernet interface to use.
I have two ethernet cards, the Internet interface served by DHCP. The
install should ask which interface I want to use for the install if it
detects more than one.
- Video resolution sucks bigtime.
After selecting video modes I got an interlaced mode at 1280x1024 even
though I selected my MAG DX1795 monitor which can do 1280x1024 at 60Hz
NI easily on my Matrox Millenium II.
- gnorpm errors with a dialog box that says "cannot open file
/var/lib/rpm/nameindex.rpm: invalid argument".
I have some recollection that this is a problem I had even on Mandrake
6.1 after installing the most recent "rpm" binary from Cooker.
- grpmi fails with "failed to open /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm" even
before the kdesu box is displayed.
- The Perl-GTK dependancy for package rpmdrake was not satisfied during
installation.
I had to install it afterwards.
- Tried to use rpmdrake to install control-center-1.0.51-2mdk.i586.rpm
and it "fetched" and then tried to install it and all I got was
"Installation failed" in a "gmessage" box with an "Ok" button.
- There was a desktop icon for DrakConf but the DrakConf package was
not installed.
- Where is the package "DrakXtools"? In what package is XFdrake found?
These are needed by DrakConf.
That should keep you guys busy for a bit. :-)
