The Kenwood 42X will not read CD-R's or CD-RW's
The 52X will not read CD-RW's, and neither one willread multi-session
CD's
The 72X is supposed to read these formats

Many older CD-Roms cannot read any of the recordable CD formats or
multi-session CD's
