Yah, but by that time you know what disk space is available and can use that, no? Besides which, you're already finished with a big chunk of the installer, partitioning code and the like. Why not optionally defer loading the last half of the installer and all of the tools it requires until you have disk (and swap) space to work in? Cheers; Leon
