------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-11-09 18:08 ------- For me, this problem dates back to 9.0. The most extreme example you can see in bug 5175. I see a long period of no apparent activity between making a login manager selection, and when the KDE splash first appears, probably at least 30 seconds, maybe much more. I've seen no material difference in this behavior when instituted immediately upon boot, whether in 9.0 betas or final, 9.1 betas or final, or 9.2 betas. When logging out and back in, the lag is nearly absent. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: I think this is not the right section but i couldn't find any better one. I've a weird problem. With Mkd 9.2 RC2, there seems to be a timeout when i launch a program. Dor instance when i do "startx" it waits about 30 seconds doing nothing. It is the same for other programs also. There is the same problem with Konsole, Konqueror, Licq, etc. The same phenomenon happens with user root also. I've checked in XFree logs and i saw nothing particular. In what logfile should i check about timeouts. I'm willing to send it to you if necessary. I wonder if the problem is not connected to networks problem. I've a Freebox (ADSL modem used in France by the Free ISP) and when it is broken (which happens quite often sadly), everything also becomes sluggish and seems to wait something until there is a timeout. In my point of view, this is a bug, program should start without any problem, network working or not. Thank you for your very nice work ans for fixing that before Mdk 9.2 final. Médéric
