Médéric,
see that your hostname is included in your /etc/hosts file :
below the 127.0.0.1 line put something like
127.0.0.2 mycomputer.earth.galaxy mycomputer

Then your computer won't try to contact your DHCP server (or something)
first whenever you start an X program, but will go straight to your localhost
and thus program windows will appear immediately. Otherwise when your
DHCP server of your ISP is down you get that 45 seconds timeout before
programs will launch.
I'm very tired and this explanation is real bad.
I've complained about this "bug" a year ago and still this showstopper
hasn't been fixed.
I may be totally wrong about what I'm talking here.

I think this is not the right section but i couldn't find any better one. I've a
weird problem. With Mkd 9.2 RC2, there seems to be a timeout when i launch a
program. Dor instance when i do "startx" it waits about 30 seconds doing
nothing. It is the same for other programs also. There is the same problem with
Konsole, Konqueror, Licq, etc. The same phenomenon happens with user root also.
I've checked in XFree logs and i saw nothing particular. In what logfile should
i check about timeouts. I'm willing to send it to you if necessary. I wonder if
the problem is not connected to networks problem. I've a Freebox (ADSL modem
used in France by the Free ISP) and when it is broken (which happens quite often
sadly), everything also becomes sluggish and seems to wait something until there
is a timeout. In my point of view, this is a bug, program should start without
any problem, network working or not.

Thank you for your very nice work ans for fixing that before Mdk 9.2 final.

Médéric
