$ urpmq -d samba-server|grep cups libcups2 You don't need a full cups installation, but since samba is built against CUPS (apparently this has some advantages, ask Till for more details), you do need the library. But, then again, so do a lot of other packages. I do try and avoid adding extra dependencies (see samba3-passdb-mysql and samba3-passdb-xml for instance), but some are unavoidable.
