The problem can be:
1. missing icons (if icons you choose in menudrake are not provided in 16x16 
size, they will not appear in menu
2. your menudrake is too old, and you have to upgrade it (I had the similar 
problem before)
3. when you add an entry through menudrake, try to run this: update-menus -v
in terminal.
