Actually, yes.
If you haven't already looked at it, try the VA
SystemImager. More details at:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/vasystemimager/
Haven't tried it yet, but thought about it quite a few
times, especially for getting Mandrake on an i486 laptop
since the Mdk7.0/i486 distro has broken PCMCIA.
